The Senufo live mainly off the fruits of agriculture (millet, sorghum, maize, rice and yams) and occasional hunting. All adult men belong to the poro society, an ancestor cult, which maintains the continuity of spiritual and historical traditions. The poro is the pillar of the life of the community and is responsible for the training and initiation of the young boys.
