This African art iron form was used in trade between a larger group of people living in present day Democratic Republic of Congo that were referred to as the Bangala due to the fact that they spoke a common trade language known as Bangi. The Bangala consists of a group of at least a dozen different tribes that spoke different languages, had different customs and were adorned with different tribal markings
