No matter how good a percussionist one may think they are, next to the incredible Drummers of Burundi, they will undoubtedly pale in comparison. This troupe of twenty drummers performs complex, thundering rhythms on homemade drums, which were traditionally considered sacred and reserved for ceremonial use only. It's only been since the 1960's that the group has opened their performances to world-wide audiences. On this live performance, the drummers perform a 30-minute improvised drumming session, featuring the hypnotic rumble of the drums alongside ecstatic call and response cries. The beats are done in perfect unison, and are no doubt the result of perfect timing, great agility and tremendous skill on the part of the artists.
