Description


The Fon live in the Dahomey kingdom, which is part of the Republic of Benin.  Oral tradition suggests that the Dahomey kingdom was created by a Yoruba princess some time before the 17th century. 

These woven grass shields in the training of young african warriors, but were also used as decoration or art in their homes.

Woven Grass and animal hide.
