Although music is an important aspect of almost all African cultures, there's a handful whose artists have been getting more attention on a global scale - Mali is one such country. Home of music with catchy choruses, light acoustic instrumentation and a laid-back tropical ambiance, Mali has developed such a broad musical appeal that some have dubbed it "the next Cuba" (alluding to that culture's propensity for high quality rhythm-based artists). This album, from Putumayo, gathers up cuts from ten different artists indigenous to the Malian music scene. Included are songs by Habib Koite, Issa Bagayogo, Moussa Diallo and many more.
