The Kwele, or Bakwele, use the Ekuk mask in th einitiation ceremonies related to the Bwete cult. Their function is to warm up the village atmostphere in order to activate th ebeneficial forces that reside in the Bwete box. These masks are normally hung in the houses and not often worn in ceremonies.
