A brass cast, pot-shaped urn with a fitted lid surmounted by a rooster, this Benin vessel is ornamented with several iconic Benin shapes and figures in low to mid relief. Relief details on the body include the depiction of a Benin royal figure holding implements of office in each hand, snails, a hinged handle in the shape of a mudfish, that connects the fitted lid to the body of the vessel, and other miscellaneous, abstract, low relief shapes.
